I’m always open to trying new things, especially if it involves food or a physical challenge. Last Spring I attended a few classes at Surfset Toronto and have been itching to go back ever since. Thankfully, I was invited to attend a BLEND class earlier this week. I’m a firm believer that fitness should be fun. If you don’t enjoy a particular activity, like running or going to the gym, then why torture yourself doing it? For me, movement is more than just wanting to achieve a certain body composition. It’s about challenging my limits and building mental toughness while having a good time.
At Surfset, you get a killer full-body workout that is never boring. The classes merge circuit training, resistance training, yoga, and pilates. All on a surfboard. Yes, a surfboard. It’s nearly impossible to hold back a smile and laughter as you try to balance yourself on a wobbly board using muscles you never even knew you had!
Our lovely instructor Kim guided us through a “BLEND” class where we planked, downward dogged, and squat jumped. Modifications were always provided and we were always encouraged to work to a level that was comfortable to us, which is why I love this workout. Although it is challenging, it is friendly for all fitness levels.
If you’re in Toronto and want to try out a class, this is the perfect opportunity for you! Surfset Toronto is hosting a grand re-opening event on September 24th. All classes are only $4 and they will be giving away lots of goodies!
Thank you to Surfset Toronto and to the generous sponsors Lolë, Revitasize, and Consonant Skin Care for a great evening. I can’t wait to hang ten once again. Namasurf!
